Have you ever felt a potential love for someone?

Like, you don’t actually love them and you know you don’t, but you know you could. You realise that you could easily fall in love with them. It’s almost like the bud of a flower, ready to blossom but it’s just not quite there yet. And you like them a lot, you really do. You think about them often, but you don’t love them. You could, though. You know you could.

My god the accuracy of this statement

Bill Kristol, Asshole of the Day for August 28, 2014
by TeaPartyCat (Follow @TeaPartyCat)
Bill Kristol is a constant fixture in the conservative world, a constant guest on Fox News and all the other usual places. He first gained prominence in the 90s when he called for Republicans to stop universal healthcare at all costs.
But aside from his love of letting poor and middle class people die or go bankrupt from treatable diseases, he is also a warmonger. If there’s a war he doesn’t want the US to get in or start, I haven’t heard of one. And then this week he took it to new heights when he suggested we just start bombing in Iraq:

From Bill Kristol, during an appearance on conservative radio host Laura Ingraham’s show, bringing his megawatt analytic powers to bear on the problem of ISIS in Iraq:

What’s the harm of bombing them at least for a few weeks and seeing what happens? I don’t think there’s much in the way of unanticipated side effects that are going to be bad there.

Just start bombing because nothing could go wrong. That’s his argument.
Well, first of all there’s collateral damage. Our bombs are never quite as accurate as we hope, and nor is our intelligence for where the enemy is. And so innocent, non-ISIS people could die. Of course those are not white Republicans that would be dying, so certainly that doesn’t count in Mr. Kristol’s calculations.
Second, planes occasionally crash. In the bombing of Libya a pilot went down and was lucky to be picked up by a side friendly to us. In Iraq they might be captured by ISIS, and then maybe beheaded, which you’re certainly aware of. Any military campaign has the risk of some American casualties. Doesn’t the risk to American lives count for something? Or does Kristol not care because they aren’t “job creators”?
Mr. Kristol was a big, big cheerleader for the Iraq War, and he’s never really admitted he was wrong about that. It would be nice if he acknowledged that there were “unanticipated side effects” in that military campaign, and so we should not be ignoring their possibility now. But he just doesn’t care, so excited is he about American firepower killing people in far off lands. And for that, he is the Asshole of the Day.
It is Bill Kristol's second time being named Asshole of the Day. His previous win was for saying he didn’t think anyone cut off from food stamps would starve during the government shutdown.
